How the next session is chosen

The situation

This week's session is In progress. On Home, under it, it reads "Next · Session 3 · date proposed". How did exactly that item get there, and not another of the six approved?

One active session

The base rule of Universal: one active session at a time. It is not a preference, the system enforces it — if two were started, the portal answers "One session at a time — the current one has to finish first." That guarantees one objective, one focus, one clear delivery at the end.

The next session is therefore the first item in the queue that is not already in progress.

From queue to a date

When you approve something (or move something in the queue), Valhalla redoes the date proposals for every approved session that does not yet have a confirmed date:

1. It takes the items in queue order (critical → your order → score → age).
2. It generates your account's weekly slots — the same day and hour, once a week, starting tomorrow. The day and hour are set with Florentin at the start.
3. It skips slots already confirmed.
4. It assigns each session the first free slot, in order. The session log shows "Valhalla proposed … — confirm or ask for another time".

You confirm from Home ("Confirm the date"), from the session page or from Sessions › Upcoming. If you ask for "Another time", the proposal is cleared, Florentin is notified and proposes another.

Horizons: now, this month, next month, later

Behind the scenes, Valhalla places every approved item in a horizon, by capacity, not by wishes:

• Now — the active session.
• This month — what fits in the sessions left this month. A "one session" piece of work takes one slot; "two sessions" takes two; "part of a session" half.
• Next month — what no longer fits this month.
• Later — the rest.

In the portal you see this as concrete dates and slots: the This month widget shows four sessions (Done / In progress / Scheduled / Date proposed / Not planned yet), and Sessions also shows next month compactly if something is already proposed there.

What moves things

• A Critical approval — goes to the front; the other proposals slide a week. The toast tells you what moved.
• Your reordering in Improve › Approved — dates are recalculated.
• An emergency ("Something is broken") — suspends the current session, which resumes after; it does not consume one of the four sessions.
• Work that does not fit — is split honestly: the session is delivered with what was done, and the remainder becomes the next session ("Split — the remainder becomes the next session").
• Rollover — a session unused last month is added to the current month (at most one).
