The situation
You want Valhalla to see what happens in your Google Ads account: budget spent without conversions, irrelevant searches, campaigns that stopped. The real question: what do you press, what does Florentin do, and who can write to your account. The short answer to the last one: nobody. Everything is read-only.
What the Google connection is
In Account › Connected systems, the Google row covers four products: Analytics · Search Console · Ads · Tag Manager. It is one Google authorisation (OAuth) with read permissions, revocable any time. Tokens are encrypted; the portal says it plainly: "Read-only, revocable any time. Valhalla reads; every change goes through your approval."
The steps
- Open Account and go to Connected systems.
- On Google, press Connect. If instead of the button it reads "with Florentin, in the first session", the connection is not yet activated on your account — see below.
- Choose the Google account that has access to Google Ads (and, ideally, to the site's GA4 and Search Console).
- Google shows the requested permissions: Google Ads, Analytics (read), Search Console (read), Tag Manager (read), email. Accept.
- You are brought back to Account: "Google connected. Valhalla can read the data; nothing is written without your approval." The row now shows the account's address and the date.
If you cancel in Google, you see "Connection cancelled — you can try again any time." If something fails, the message states the reason, and Florentin is told.
What Valhalla does with Google Ads, honestly
This is the part most products hide. The portal connection reads directly GA4 and Search Console. For Google Ads, the actual analysis runs through Ads Check, Florentin's audit engine: verification rules (budget without conversions, structure, negatives, geo, schedule), run read-only on your account, with evidence.
For that, your Google Ads account must be linked to Ads Check. It is not (yet) a button in the portal: it is done with Florentin, in the first session — usually by granting read access to his manager account or to the address he gives you. Once linked:
- Findings from Ads Check appear in the portal as recommendations in preparation, which Florentin checks and publishes.
- Each has Evidence with the source "Ads Check", the rule and the entity (campaign, ad group).
- The Growth area in the Business map gets an ads health score.
Nothing in Ads Check executes changes in the account. A "pause ad group X" is a recommendation you approve; Florentin does it in a session.
What it never does
- It never changes budgets, bids, keywords or ads without a recommendation you approved.
- It never creates campaigns.
- It keeps no access after you press Revoke — the tokens are deleted.
What to remember
- The Google connection in Account is one read-only authorisation: Ads, Analytics, Search Console, Tag Manager.
- Google Ads analysis runs through Ads Check, Florentin's engine — linking the account is done with him, in the first session.
- Findings appear as recommendations with "Ads Check" evidence; nothing executes in the account without your approval.
- "Revoke" deletes the tokens; read access never requires an Admin role.

Why does Google ask for the "Google Ads" permission if the analysis comes from Ads Check?
The connection is prepared to read Ads directly in the future and covers all Google products in one authorisation. Today, Ads reading goes through Ads Check; the portal executes nothing in the account whatever the permission.
I run ads through an agency. Can I still connect?
Yes — you remain the account owner. Granting read access for Ads Check does not affect the agency; you can then discuss Valhalla's recommendations with them or approve them for sessions.
